The Grim’s Dyke hotel is the number one wedding location for the bride who wants the best on her wedding day. We have both the fairy tale location and the beautiful grounds – all of which can be hired out, exclusively for your big day. But planning a wedding involves more than just the perfect location – so here’s our tips on the top wedding trends for 2017.

Wedding themes

Vintage and fairy tale elegance are still as popular as ever, as both focus on being feminine and romantic – with subtle colours, gold or silver detailing and of course, champagne. The vintage look is more sleek and stylish, with a focus on elegance and class, whereas the fairy tale wedding is more for the romantics, so look for pink roses, calligraphy and big dresses.

High drama takes vintage a step further – by opting for Hollywood Glamour on steroids. To carry this off, you need opulence, crystal and pearl, chandeliers, huge table pieces and a focus on lighting.

Relaxed country chic, think a rustic style reception with wood, bunting, lantern lights, cowboy boots and lots of flowers. The colouring can be bold or muted, depending on your choice preferences.

Finally, there’s the themed options. With Alice Through the Looking Glass and Beauty and the Beast hitting the big screen, they offer the more adventurous bride an opportunity to host a fantastically visual themed wedding.

Colour options

Gold and silver are still popular however for 2017, as is metallic colours generally.  Rose quartz is a definite hit for 2017 too. The 2017 colour trends also include the ever-popular subtle pastels in pink and pale blue, but there’s also the brighter options, such as vivid lilacs, shades of orange and warm brown.

Wedding attire

The hottest wedding dresses comprise of plunging necklines, sheer cut-out panels, lots of lace and embroidered bodices. Bustier tops and corsets are big this year, embellished with beading, lace and even feathers – as is off the shoulder dresses. There’s every style available for the discerning bride-to-be, from the traditional fairy tale design, through the 30’s style peignoirs and the 90’s style slip dress, and onto dress shirts, satin slips and even the pant suit!

Accessories

Finally, no wedding outfit would be complete without accessories. 2017 sees varying combinations of trains, veils and even capes. There’s also a big upsurge in hair jewellery, such as clips, chains and tiaras.
