Choosing the right wedding car for your big day

MarkWeddings

There’s such a vast array of wedding car hire venues available to soon-to-be brides. With so much choice, it can be difficult knowing what you want, let alone what option works best for you.

However, picking your wedding day transport doesn’t have to be stressful or difficult, if you follow these simple tips.

Location

Before you decide what type of car to get, you need to be clear where you need to get to and from. Even if you’re holding the wedding and reception in one place, you’ll still want transport to initially get there. If you’re holding the wedding at church, followed by a reception elsewhere, the transfer time needs to be factored in, along with how many trips between destinations are needed, to ferry the bridal couple, bridesmaids, mother of the bride etc, and explained to the car hire venue, prior to making your final choice.

Theme

Regardless of whether you’re having a traditional, vintage, modern or novelty wedding, you’ll want the cars to either blend in or match your theme. Choosing the colour of your car is another important consideration. If you opt for white, you need to make sure it isn’t going to make your dress look a dirty cream, in comparison, when you’re being photographed next to, or in, it. Two-tone colours, or ones that fit in with your overall colour theme, are a good option, if you want to make the right entrance.

Remember your dress

Wedding dresses vary so much. Some can be light and simple, others may be a mass of underskirts and hoops. The size of your dress will help dictate what car you can have. The rear seats in some newer cars may not give your dress, the space it needs, to enable you to arrive at your destination looking fresh and crease-free! If you’re opting for a larger dress, you’ll need either a saloon style or a vintage car, to give yourself and your dress room to breathe. To avoid tears on your big day, take the time to go and see the car, prior to your wedding, so you can see how easy (or not!) it is to get in an out off.

Wedding CarLogistics

A two-seater convertible may be your dream wedding car, but it’s no good, if you’re opting for only one wedding car and are looking to have five bridesmaids in your wedding party. So, know how many people are in your wedding party, prior to making your decision – you can then decide how many cars will you need. It you want to make only one trip, opting for a limousine would be a good choice. Alternatively, you may be happy to hire more than one car, in which case, you may be looking for a hire venue that can provide two matching cars. Another option available, is to opt for a fancier car for the bride and groom, with simpler cars for the rest of the wedding party.

Find out what it includes

It’s good to know what extras are, and aren’t, included. Does the price include a chauffeur, or do you have to find your own driver? Will they be able to provide champagne, photography, decorations and early pickup? Know what extras you’d like.

Stay local

Hiring locally is a good option, as the drivers will inevitably know the local area. There’s nothing worse than being stuck in roadworks on your big day!

Availability

Finally, make sure you book early, to avoid disappointment. This also gives you plenty of time to go and see the car, prior to your big day.
